Denmark makes true recycling of gypsum waste mandatory bans composting of gypsum waste and export for recovery purposes
05-03-2014 10:00

On December 6, 2012 the Environmental Minister of Denmark, Mrs. Ida Auken, announced that Denmark will make true recycling of gypsum waste mandatory in the future. In the future only recycling companies that truly recycle the gypsum waste and send the produced recycling gypsum back as a raw material to the gypsum consuming industry will be the legal receivers of gypsum and plasterboard waste. The Minister at the same time made it clear that composting or spreading of gypsum waste on farmland will no longer be tolerated, and also export for recovery purposes will be banned. Only export for true recycling will be allowed.
